Q: Do I need previous experience playing an instrument to enroll?
A: You do not need to have any musical knowledge to enroll with Get Started Playing Ukulele. The "Melanie Method" is deigned for those who are brand new to playing an instrument.
Q: What are the payment options for my monthly subscription? Do you offer PayPal as an option?
A: You will be billed monthly through a secured transaction through Stripe. We are unable to offer PayPal transactions.
Q. What size ukulele can I use for learning the “Melanie Method” at Get Started Playing Ukulele?
A. All of the ukulele sizes between 21” to 27” long (53cm to 68cm) are equally useable for the “Melanie Method” of learning to play the ukulele. The strings need to be tuned to G-C-E-A. The names of these ukulele sizes are: Soprano, Concert, Grand Concert and Tenor.
Q. Can I use these other instruments to take these classes? Bass ukulele? Baritone ukulele?
A. They are not the same instruments as the Soprano, Concert, Grand Concert and Tenor. Bass ukuleles are not usable for this class. (They are tuned E-A-D-G.) Baritone ukuleles are 30” long (76cm) and are normally tuned D-G-B-E. If you were to re-string a Baritone ukulele to G-C-E-A, you could learn using the “Melanie Method” at Get Started Playing Ukulele.
Q. Does it matter if my G string is a "regular G string” or a “low G string?”
A. Your G string can be either. It doesn’t matter.
Q: How do I prepare for the Zoom class?
A: Once you have:
- A practice Ukulele
- Access to an internet enabled device (computer, tablet, or smartphone) that you can use privately, and also preferably access to a printer.
- You will need our Starter Kit. If you have already purchased the Starter Kit, go to our Newcomers Checklist in this course and follow those instructions to prepare you for class. If you haven't already purchased this kit, which includes necessary materials for the class, we recommend doing that at least a week before beginning classes so there is time to receive our starter package in the mail after purchase.

Q: Where do I find the course materials and archived class footage?
A: Once you have enrolled you can login at anytime to find the Course Curriculum, which includes: The Daily Lesson Plan, the Zoom Class Link, all the PDF song sheets for the current curriculum, archived class footage, and more!
Also, make sure you have completed our Newcomers Checklist found in the Starter Kit.
Q: If I am unable to continue my subscription, how do I cancel?
A: If for any reason you would like to cancel your subscription for Get Started Playing Ukulele, you can do so at any time before your next billing cycle without being charged for the next cycle. You can find the subscription cancelation in your account settings under "Manage Subscriptions". If you have any issues canceling your subscription, please contact us. If you would like to to request a refund, please contact us to find out if you are eligible for one. We do not offer refunds for the Starter Kit.
